AI model · Claude Opus 5.5

One prompt to Claude Opus 5.5, and back came a promo video that looks agency-made

Less than two days after Claude Opus 5.5 came out, X and Reddit filled up with promo videos the model had made. No editing software, no motion designer. People gave it a product URL or an announcement post and asked. The quick ones took 15 minutes, and the most polished took 4 hours. Here's what came out.

The video at the top is a trailer for TicketMappr, an app that puts shows and events on a map. The developer gave Opus 5.5 the site URL and a prompt asking for production value "on professional level." Four hours later this video came out, with just one round of changes along the way.

In the four days after Opus 5.5 came out on September 22, 1,511 posts about it went up on X alone. One video, posted with the line "Motion designers are cooked," drew 110,000 views, and in Korea one reaction read “모션그래픽 시장은 이제 끝난 것 같다” (the motion graphics market looks finished).

Opus 5.5 doesn't conjure up video. It writes code that draws each scene. That's why the screens and logos in these videos match the real product.

The product video they kept putting off took one sentence and 15 minutes

The learnfrom.co operator's request

Can you create a motion graphics video about the platform learnfrom.co. Include the real branding and screens from the website/dashboard.

Put your own product's URL in place of learnfrom.co.

Opus 5.5 pulled the brand colors straight from the site's CSS and redrew the dashboard screens as moving scenes. Without being asked, it swapped the test data and real student emails on those screens for clean sample data. Counting two rounds of changes, one to add a logo and sound and one to fix the logo color, the whole job took about 15 minutes.

Asked for a hand-drawn collage style, it made a 52-second explainer for $4

Over 1.5 to 2 hours, Opus 5.5 made the script, the collage art, the narration, the music, and the sound effects on its own. It called other AI models to make the art and the voice, which cost about $4. The developer wrote that it isn't Pixar, but it's 100% usable as a real explainer video.

The Friendr.nl developer's prompt

Create a pure javascript animation. 30s-60s whimsical hand drawn collage style with appropriate audio on Friendr.nl. Entire video should be as high of a production value as possible. Please spend your time on this, it's very important. People should understand what Friendr.nl is for and after seeing the video will want to create an event to try it out. Read the FAQ first. Use high quality text-to-speech model for generation. You can find open router API key in .env file You can use any tools you can find access to and resources on the internet. You create the script, the assets, the animation, concept, everything. I have to go away from my computer so please work autonomously until done. Quality is paramount. Production value should be on professional level. One more thing: max OpenRouter spend is $10

OpenRouter is a service that lets you call many AI models with a single key. The art and voice were made there. People who ran it without a key wrote that they downloaded a free voice model and drew the art in code as well.

Claude had never seen this program, yet a site URL alone got a 59-second promo video

The program was built with a different AI tool (Codex), so Claude knew nothing about it. The teacher gave it only the site URL and asked for a promo video, then wrote “바로 뚝딱 만들어오네” (it whipped one up on the spot).

A founder who spent 6 hours on each launch video got one from a single request with the announcement pasted in

He used to put 6 to 12 hours into each announcement video himself. This time he pasted in the whole announcement blog post and added one line. The video came out in one go and drew 139,000 views on Wasmer's official X account.

A borrowed prompt and 20 minutes of waiting made the video that now leads ClimbX's homepage

This is the "Motion designers are cooked" video from earlier, the one with 110,000 views. He pasted a prompt shared by Tony Dinh, maker of the AI chat app TypingMind, into Claude Code and waited 20 minutes. It used about 1% of the weekly allowance on a $100-a-month plan. A longer cut of the video now sits on the ClimbX homepage.

The prompt Tony Dinh shared and the ClimbX founder pasted in

Make a dynamic 30-second motion graphics video that shows what an incredible motion designer you are, like it's your showreel for a résumé. go all out. Make it a video to introduce http://typingmind.com Use actual product screenshot/logo/assets Must have music and motion must match the music Do it like a real professional production video, not like a demo or prototype. Add more animation and motion design; avoid using screenshots as raw; instead, break them down into components/icons so we can animate those too. Make the motions more juicy. Use the best motion design techniques you can.

What people who used it say

People who tried it themselves said the quality of the output was the first thing that surprised them. Many also say the first cut is hard to use as is. The timing slips, text overlaps, and videos made by different people already share similar motion and colors.

What worked

  • “The step function change on Opus 5.5 for visual work shocked me.. and I haven't been surprised like this in a long time with LLMs.”

Skeptical when they first saw the videos, they tried it themselves and found it works.

    XenophileJKO · Hacker Newsnews.ycombinator.com
  • “I just tried it for a video for work and it generated some of the best motion graphics I've seen an Ai do!”

    @The-Musicians-Edge · YouTube commentyoutube.com
  • “I'm a professional ai video creator & for whatever reason didn't feel a need to use Claude yet......saw this video & experimented with the tool for free.....& got a genuinely crazy good motion graphic video output”

    @d-slang · YouTube commentyoutube.com
  • “It's in my experience a lot better than older models, and also faster with lower token usage.”

    u/fantakillen · Redditreddit.com

What fell short

  • “Give it the story before the style. Problem first, then what changes, then the ask. The first 15 second cut I posted looked slick and had no context, so I pulled it.”

    u/troyjr4103 · Redditreddit.com
  • “the first pass always has timing and overlap problems, a couple of rounds of that and it starts to look deliberate”

The rounds they mean: capture a few frames, show them back, and ask what looks off.

  • “5.5 sure loves that WHOOSH SFX...it's put it in just about everything I've made w/out asking.”

    u/CaptainErgonomic · Redditreddit.com
  • “It's cool and all, but already these one shot prompts are showing near identical animations, feel and palettes.”

How to start

  1. 1

Open Claude Code on Claude Pro ($20 a month) or higher

Many people report that one video used about 4 to 8% of the Pro plan's weekly allowance. If the terminal feels unfamiliar, use the Code tab in the desktop app, or hand your product folder to Cowork in the Claude app. Also install ffmpeg, a free program that stitches the scenes into an MP4.

    Install Claude Code (macOS, Linux)

    curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash

In Windows PowerShell, enter irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iex instead. On macOS, install ffmpeg with brew install ffmpeg.

  2. 2

Point it at your product folder or URL and ask in one line

Ask from the project folder where you built the product, and the model reads the screens and logos straight from the code. No folder? Give it the site URL. The maker of Dopamine Barrier, an app that blocks Shorts, got a 22-second vertical video from this one line.

    The Dopamine Barrier maker's request

    이 프로젝트 보고 홍보영상 만들어줘

  3. 3

Watch the first cut, then go back and forth a few times

The maker of Blai, a blog analytics service, finished a promo video after five rounds and wrote down these tips. To avoid a video that looks like everyone else's, Anthropic's guide also recommends spelling out the styles you don't want.

    Tips from the Blai maker

The prompt behind the trailer at the top

The TicketMappr developer wrote that the key seemed to be one sentence: "You can use any tools you can find access to and resources on the internet." Before that, no matter how many times they asked, the videos looked nothing like the site. The prompt also tells it to capture the site directly and make nothing up.

The TicketMappr developer's prompt

Please create a 45 second pure javascript animation based on the website https://ticketmappr.com (to basically create a trailer). Entire trailer should be as high of a production value as possible. Please spend your time on this, its very important. Use high quality text-to-speech model for generation. You can use any tools you can find access to and resources on the internet. You can capture screenshots and video/sound capture from a browser, don't make anything up, capture it. When capturing content set your location to a location that will have lots of quality events. You create the script, the assets, the animation, everything. Work autonomously until done. Quality is paramount. Production value should be on professional level.

Put your own product's URL in place of ticketmappr.com, and adapt or drop the sentence about location.

What you need
