Have you used AI design tools only to feel like "this doesn't look like our brand"?
Claude Design is different. Bring in your GitHub repo or design file, and AI builds prototypes using your actual components. From wireframes to pitch decks to marketing assets — all created in conversation with an AI that knows your brand guidelines.
What exactly is Claude Design?
Launched by Anthropic in April 2026, Claude Design is "a canvas interface for creating visual work through conversation with AI." There's a canvas alongside the chat window where wireframes, prototypes, pitch decks, and marketing assets come to life in real time.
The generation process is unique. In prototype mode, after you submit a request, Claude asks 5–10 questions first. What's the purpose? Who's the user? What's the vibe? Only after this conversation does the canvas produce results. The AI figures out design direction before it starts building.
The output range is wide:
| Output Type | Use Cases |
|---|---|
| Interactive Prototypes | Clickable app mockups, user flow testing |
| Wireframes & Mockups | Developer handoff screens |
| Pitch Decks | Branded slides, PPTX export |
| Marketing Assets | Landing pages, social posts, campaign visuals |
| Documents | Resumes, one-pagers (PDF export) |
Finished work exports as PDF, PowerPoint, or HTML — or pushes directly to 9 partner tools including Adobe Express, Canva, Miro, Gamma, Lovable, and Vercel.
How is it different from Figma Make or Google Stitch?
AI design tools are everywhere in 2026. But Claude Design has one thing none of them do: you can import your own design system.
Pull in your GitHub repo, existing design files, or local codebase, and Claude builds designs using your actual components. Not "similar vibes" — your actual buttons, typography, and color system. Enterprise teams can lock down approved design systems through admin controls.
| Figma Make | Google Stitch | Claude Design | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Design System Import | Figma file only | Not available | GitHub · files · codebase |
| Output Range | UI screens | Marketing assets | UI · decks · marketing · docs |
| Code Integration | Limited | None | Claude Code bidirectional |
| Brand Consistency | Design file based | None | Component-level validation |
| Pricing | Separate credits | Free | Included in Pro/Max/Team |
The Claude Code integration stands out. The /design-sync command pulls your design system from Claude Code, and /design jumps into design work. Vercel called this "shortening the path from idea to production" — designers can hand finished work directly to developers for Vercel deployment.
What about Adobe Express integration?
Adobe describes it as: "start concepts in Claude and use the Adobe for Creativity connector to take social posts from draft to done in Adobe Express." Ideate in Claude Design, finish in Adobe Express — the two tools connect naturally.
How to start in 30 minutes
Claude Design lives at claude.ai/design. Included in Claude Pro ($20/month), Max, Team, and Enterprise plans — usage shared with chat, Claude Cowork, and Claude Code.
- Go to claude.ai/design
Log in with a Pro or higher plan and navigate to the Design tab. It's still in Research Preview, so there's a weekly generation limit. - Import your design system (if you have one)
Connect a GitHub URL, design file, or local codebase. Not required, but importing dramatically improves brand consistency. - Request in natural language
Try "Build a dashboard wireframe for a SaaS app." Claude will ask 5–10 questions. The more specific your answers, the better the output. - Refine on the canvas
Adjust spacing and colors with sliders, or leave comments on elements. "Change the card background to white" works exactly as you'd expect. - Export or hand off to Claude Code
Save as PDF, PPTX, or HTML — or use /design to send it to Claude Code and turn it into real code. Deploy directly to Vercel or Lovable.
Before you start, know this
In Research Preview, the $20 plan's weekly limit runs out after "2–3 big generations." Iteration-heavy projects hit the cap fast. Consider Max or Team for serious work. Also, connectors and plugins aren't surfaced clearly — you have to go find them. Discoverability is still a weak spot.
